Addressing Masculinity
Publication Design
"Addressing Masculinity" is an editorial booklet that goes in-depth about topics that face much judgment: men's mental health and toxic masculinity. Although mental health as a whole is becoming talked about more frequently, there are still a large number of men who feel expressing emotion is off-limits. This booklet is the pathway to beginning those conversations.
Goals
Create an editorial booklet with a clean and visually appealing design.
Appropriately convey the mood of discussed topics through the usage of color palette and image choices.
Discuss and educate about stereotypes surrounding men's mental health and self-expression and disprove them in a detailed manner.
Research
Information was gathered regarding the topics of mental health, toxic masculinity, and stereotypes men face were researched and then compiled to create one cohesive story.
Final Results
This project allowed me to reach outside of my comfort zone and expand on my abilities as a designer. Prior to creating this project, I had never worked with a male target audience and had little experience working with minimalism. While brainstorming for this project, I consulted with a few male friends regarding this topic. They all agreed it was important to them and they thought this topic needed discussed amongst men and women alike.
